6 Ways To Feel Less Bloated
If you suffer from bloating on a regular basis there are some easy things you can do to your diet and lifestyle to reduce the bloating to make you feel more comfortable. Here are our tip tips!
Drink more water / stay hydrated – Water helps flush your system of toxins and extra salt, which can be responsible for that puffy feeling. Water also prevents common causes of bloating like constipation and dehydration. Keep a water bottle with you at all times to remind yourself to drink more water throughout the day and ensure you're always filling up.
Eat Smarter - A number of foods are great at getting rid of unwanted bloat. Asparagus stimulates the growth of good gut bacteria; bananas contain high levels of potassium to flush excess sodium out of your system; and watermelons (90% water) also have natural diuretic properties, along with ginger and parsley.
Eat certain fruits - Both pineapple and papaya contain enzymes called bromelain and papain that help banish bloat by breaking down protein and easing digestion. Snack on a bowl of cut-up fruit, or add papaya and pineapple to breakfast smoothies.
Take an omega 3 supplement – Studies show Omega 3’s EPA and DHA has anti-inflammatory effects that may help to reduce bloating due to inflammation.
Get your body moving - Consider a quick yoga sequence aimed at increasing blood flow to your digestive tract and ridding your internal organs of constipation-causing toxins. All types of cardiovascular exercise (running, cycling and hiking) will increase blood flow and get a sluggish digestive tract moving.
Don’t chew gum – Chewing gum causes you to swallow more air and many gums contain sugar alcohol, both which contribute to making you feel bloated. Drink a fresh mint tea instead.
